Christian County Board Approves Zoning Issues

The Christian County Board met in regular session on Tuesday night, February 17th. Among the items on the agenda, the amendment of the Zoning Ordinance to include the Village of Palmer. It was pointed out that the village no longer had any zoning board and had asked the county to take zoning back. The motion to amend the Ordinance was approved. Also, permission was given to reclassify an area in Ricks Township from Ag 1 to Commercial 2 for the purpose of relocating the Casey's General Store in Morrisonville. Casey's has applied to build a new facility in the rezoned location. Approval was unanimous.


In other business the Christian County Board agreed to place on the 2016 ballot for voter approval, the consideration of changing the Supervisor of Assesments position from an elected position to an appointed one. It was determined that if the position did become an appointed position, it would not take effect until 2018. If someone is appointed by the board to replace Michael Gianasi who has resigned, they will fulfill his term of office.


Several liquor licenses were approved including Burton's Tap, Blue Bell, Pana Country Club, Thunderbird, A Great Victory, Lucky Lady, South Fork Entertainment, Arpeggia Winery, Christian County Fair and Tri County Fair. Phillip Schneider was sworn in to replace the trustee position vacated by the resignation of Zenith Washburn. Schneider was sworn in by Judge Brad Paisley. Jane Workman was appointed as a trustee for the South Fork Sanitary District until the year 2018. The meeting was adjourned at around 7:15 pm.
