Morrisonville School Superintendent Dies During Surgery

The school superintendent of the Morrisonville School District has died.


According to a phone call sent to all students' parents in the district, Karen Perry went in for emergency heart surgery on Wednesday, and passed away this (Friday) morning due to complications from the surgery.


Perry was in the middle of her first year as Morrisonville superintendent.


School board president Bill Harmon tells Regional Radio News the district will hold an emergency meeting Saturday morning to choose an interim superintendent. Former Taylorville superintendent Rich Wilson is expected to be appointed.


The emergency meeting is set for 9:30 Saturday morning at the Morrisonville Grade School.
