Area Arrests/Accidents/Incidents 9-11-14

 THE CHRISTIAN COUNTY SHERIFF'S DEPARTMENT REPORTS THE FOLLOWING ACCIDENTS:

Matthew Tarrant, 25 of Bulpitt was north bound on county highway five half mile south of Illinois Route 104.  A deer ran into the path of Tarrant.  She swerved to avoid the deer and lost control of the vehicle.  The vehicle went off the left side of the road and into a ditch and struck a utility pole.  No injuries were reported.  The 2000 Lincoln LS that Tarrant was driving was driving was pulled out by another truck.  Tarrant was issued citations for expired registration and operation of an uninsured vehicle. 

On September 7th, Robert Keel, 45, of Springfield was traveling west bound on 2800 North and was unable to avoid striking a deer in the roadway at 1167 East Road. 

Carol Marsters of Mesa Arizona, was traveling east in the 600 block of Springfied Road.  It was raining very hard and visibility was comprised.  Marsters made a left turn and thought she was turning into Market parking lot, but missed the drive due to heavy rain and no visibility.  Marsters received front end damage to the 2014 Chevrolet Sonic rental car. 

 

 

THE TAYLORVILLE POLICE DEPARTMENT REPORTS THE FOLLOWING ACCIDENTS:

On September 9th at approximately 3:55 p.m., officers were dispatched to the 1000 block of East Main Cross for an accident with no personal injuries.  Upon arrival we saw that Don Pembroke, 49, of Taylorville had struck a utility pole.  Pembroke said that the non-collision vehicle pulled out in front of him when it was leaving Hillcrest Trailer Court.  He swerved to avoid the vehicle, but struck the utility pole. The non-collision vehicle said the same thing and was cited for failing to yield to an existing private road/drive.  The utility pole was leaning, but not broken and dispatch contacted Ameren. 

Mark Sazabo, 50, of Taylorville backed out of a parking space at 106 West Park and struck Robert Patterson, 36 of Taylorville and left the scene.
