Area Arrests/Crashes/Incidents 8-18-14

THE CHRISTIAN COUNTY SHERIFF'S OFFICE REPORTS THE FOLLOWING ARRESTS:

Brandon White, 25, of Taylorville was arrested on August 17, 2014 for criminal damage to state property.

Alannah Wilderman, 23, of Pana was arrested on August 15, 2014 on a bond forfeiture for obstructing an officer.

Lori K. Kobe, 45, of Taylorville was arrested on August 15, 2014 for domestic battery.

Cole Y. Shoraga, 22, of Taylorville was arrested on August 15, 2014 for driving while on a suspended license.

THE TAYLORVILLE POLICE DEPARTMENT REPORTS THE FOLLOWING ARRESTS/CRASH:

On August 14 at 7:45pm, Taylorville Police Department Officers were dispatched to the parking lot of M&M Auto Mart for a large fight. When the Taylorville Police Department Officers arrived, they located a large group of people yelling in the parking lot behind M&M Auto Mart. After an investigation, Anthony D. Benavides, 18, of Taylorville was arrested for domestic battery, aggravated battery to a police officer, resisting/obstructing a peace officer, and possession of drug paraphernalia. Benavides was transported to the Taylorville Police Department, processed, and transported to the Christian County Correctional Center.

A Taylorville Police Department Officer was dispatched to the 700 block of West Vandeveer Street in regards to a domestic. The Taylorville Police Department Officer arrived and made contact with a male and female subject. After investigating the incident, Lori K. Kobe, 45, of Taylorville was arrested, transported to the Taylorville Police Department, processed, and transported to the Christian County Correctional Center in lieu of bond.

On August 15 at 6:23pm, Walmart Loss Prevention advised they observed two females attempting to leave the store without paying for several items, which included clothes and alcohol (value:$1,174.05). Walmart Loss Prevention advised he stopped the females inside the vestibule just before the main exit. A person from Loss Prevention advised they followed one of them until she crossed Route 29. The female, Brittany R. Hull, 20, of Springfield was located at Landmark Automotive and transported back to the Taylorville Police Department by a Taylorville Police Department Officer. Hull was processed and released on a Notice To Appear of September 15, 2014 at 10am, per States Attorney. Photos of the stolen items and the sales receipt were placed into evidence. The Taylorville Police Department Officers were unable to locate the second female.

On August 16, Taylorville Police Department Officers were dispatched to the 100 block of West Franklin for a possibly intoxicated male. Upon further investigation, Levi T. Simpson, 19, of Springfield was arrested for Possession of Cannabis<2.5 grams.

On August 17 at 7 pm, Taylorville Memorial Hospital called and advised a male patient just left the E.R. and while in the parking lot of the hospital, he broke a taillight out of a silver Hyundai car. The Taylorville Memorial Hospital guard witnessed the male kick out the taillight. The security guard advised he attempted to stop the male, but the male left heading south towards East Park Street. The male was identified as Brandon N. White, 25, of Taylorville. White was located at the corner of Market and Cherokee by a Taylorville Police Department Officer and was transported back to the Taylorville Memorial Hospital. During the arrest, White dented the hood of the Taylorville Police Department Officer's squad car. The owner of the damaged vehicle was advised of the damage. On August 17 at 9:16pm, White was released from the Taylorville Memorial Hospital. White was arrested and transported to the Taylorville Police Department, where he was processed and then transported to the Christian County Correctional Center in lieu of bond.

On August 16 at 11:12pm, Taylorville Police Department Officers were dispatched to The Loading Zone referencing an altercation that was about to become physical. Michael Y. Mason, 29, of Taylorville was arrested and transported to the Taylorville Police Department for processing.

On August 17 at 2:26am, Taylorville Police Department Officers responded to a one vehicle roll over accident at 1091 Taylorville Road. When the Taylorville Police Department Officers arrived, there was no one around the vehicle. It appeared that Michael L. McCallister, 46, of Taylorville drove off the road, hit a mailbox and culvert, and turned over onto the driver's side. McCallister was towed from the scene. McCallister traveled approximately 117 feet in the ditch and struck the mailbox and driveway culvert and then traveled approximately 75 feet, rolling at least one time and coming to rest on the driver's side partially in the roadway. At 8:04am, McCallister came to the Taylorville Police Department to report his accident. McCallister stated he came off of Briarcliff road and spun the tires on the wet pavement, causing him to go into the ditch and hitting the mailbox and culvert and rolling the vehicle at least one time. McCallister was asked why he didn't report the accident when it happened and McCallister said he didn't know what to do, so he walked to his daughter's residence. McCallister was issued citations for Failure to Reduce Speed to avoid and accident and failure to give information after striking property. No injuries were reported.
