The Lincoln Land Community College Board of Trustees welcomed a new vice president for administrative services and accepted an award from Illinois Secretary of State Jesse White at its May meeting.

New Vice President Todd McDonald will oversee the college’s finance, facilities, construction, human resources and police departments. He joins LLCC after four years as dean of finance and facilities at North Central Michigan College in Petoskey.

Also last evening, LLCC Board Chair Justin Reichert displayed an award he accepted on behalf of the college Wednesday from Secretary of State Jesse White. Out of 21 community colleges participating, LLCC was awarded second place in the Secretary of State’s “Be a Hero” Organ/Tissue Donor Campaign.

In addition to the plaque, LLCC received one paid, student internship through Donate Life Illinois Partners. The internship was awarded to Tyler Mathews, one of the leaders of the campaign, who will serve the internship at Memorial Medical Center.

LLCC Foundation Executive Director Karen Sanders told trustees that the Foundation recently awarded nearly $180,000 in new scholarships to 121 students. Numerous other students received second year renewals of their scholarships.
