Severe Weather Hits Central Illinois With High Winds, Rain

Severe weather moved thru Central Illinois Thursday night, uprooting trees, taking down power lines and dumping more rain on already saturated fields.

Wind gusts clocked as high as 88 miles an hour, were experienced in the Quad Cities Thursday afternoon. The Galesburg area received over 3 inches of rain early Thursday evening.

Closer to home, numerous severe thunderstorm warnings were issued for many Central Illinois counties, with reports of 60 to 70 mile per hour wind gusts at Nokomis at 7:45 Thursday night, and a tree being uprooted at Taylor Springs in Montgomery County.

The rain is expected to continue into early Saturday, with a flash flood watch continuing thru Saturday.
