Several Lake Land College broadcast sales students recently earned certification as radio marketing professionals. Students completed the training as part of the broadcast sales class in the radio/TV program at Lake Land College.

The Radio Marketing Professional (RMP) designation is the entry-level course in a comprehensive, multi-level training and certification program developed and administered by the Radio Advertising Bureau. RMP graduates must complete a rigorous course of study that focuses on mastering the basic knowledge and the initial skills necessary to immediately generate sales for the station and results for the advertisers.

Greg Powers, radio/TV instructor and station manager of WLKL 89.9 FM, administered the certification exam through the Radio Advertising Bureau, a nationally recognized agency.

“The Radio Marketing Professional certification is a tremendous asset for students entering the broadcast workforce," Powers said. "Broadcast employers are searching for employees who are multifaceted. The students who have completed this certification are very marketable.”

Each of the professionals will be honored on a plaque displayed alongside those of previous years’ students.

Newly certified students are: Michael Dwyer, Bronx, N.Y.; Loxie Sanders, Mattoon; Aaron Wood, Sullivan; Dennis Day, Strasburg; Zach Walters, Hindsboro; Jared Lindley, Marshall; Brandon Kronewitter, Effingham; Kody Rueter, Effingham; Dakota Little, Bethany; Nathan Scott, Bethany; and Ryan Lane, Charleston.
