There are now competing pension reform plans, one from the Illinois Senate and one from the Illinois House. Representative Wayne Rosenthal of Morrisonville says either way, it will probably be challenged in court:

The Senate version is being supported by the unions, and might be passed without a challenge. The House version, being promoted by Speaker Michael Madigan, would save the state more money but would face an uncertain fate in court.
