Area Arrests/Accidents 8/1/16

On Monday the Christian County Sheriff’s Office reported the following arrests to Regional Radio News.

 

54 year old Gary D. Tarrant of Pana was arrested on Friday on a bond forfeiture warrant for contempt of court. Bond was set at $3000.

 

34 year old Rebecca G. Cox of Pana was arrested on Friday for domestic battery.

 

30 year old Frank K. Sedlock of Taylorville was arrested on Sunday for disorderly conduct.

 

32 year old Robert L. Cunningham was arrested on Friday for possession of methamphetamine as well as driving with a suspended license.

 

25 year old Gregory M. Stone of Taylorville was arrested on Friday on a bond forfeiture warrant for driving on a suspended license. Bond was set at $2500.

 

45 year old Steven E. Tucker of Taylorville was arrested on Friday on a bond forfeiture warrant for possession of a controlled substance. Bond was set at $2500.

 

34 year old Samantha L. McPeek of Taylorville was arrested on Sunday on a bond forfeiture warrant for retail theft. Bond was set at $5000.



 

On Friday the Taylorville Police Department reported the following arrests to Regional Radio News.

 

25 year old Kevin M. Purcell of Taylorville was arrested on Friday for driving with a suspended license.

 

19 year old Destiny E. Doud of Edinburg was arrested on Friday for possession of methamphetamine.

 

26 year old Chase M. Windell of Edinburg was arrested on Friday for disorderly conduct and criminal damage to property.

 

51 year old Jessie Lacy of Taylorville was arrested on Saturday for domestic battery.






 

ACCIDENTS:


 

On July 31st, 17 year old Jessica R. Stewart of Assumption was eastbound on County Highway 4. At approximately 2650 east, Stewart’s vehicle left the roadway entering the south ditch. The vehicle then struck a culvert and overturned. Stewart’s vehicle came to rest on it’s wheels in the middle of the roadway facing south. Stewart was taken to St. Mary's Hospital via Moweaqua Ambulance to be treated for injuries.

 

20 year old Cody J. Morthole of Taylorville traveled off the roadway on the west side of 1600 east road in his vehicle. Morthole’s vehicle overturned and came to rest on it’s top. After crashing Morthole abandoned the vehicle. There were no injuries reported.

 

68 year old Kathy D. McLaughlin of Owaneco was traveling westbound on 900 north road with a passenger in the vehicle. McLaughlin stated that she thought she hit loose gravel and lost control of the vehicle. Marks at the scene indicated that McLaughlin’s vehicle left the roadway on the south side and traveled through the ditch for approx. 140 feet. The vehicle then went into the bean field and traveled approximately 96 feet until it struck a high spot in the field. McLaughlin’s vehicle then spun around 180 degrees and impacted the bottom of the ditch. After striking the ditch, McLaughlin’s vehicle became airborne and overturned before impacting the roadway with the roof, and then rolled back upright onto all 4 wheels. The passenger was taken by ambulance to TMH due to injuries.

 

On 7/27/16 a vehicle was parked at the Casey's general store gas pumps in Morrisonville. The driver of that vehicle, 27 year old Jessica R. Brown of Kincaid, stated that she was outside her vehicle near the pump, and noticed a male subject come out of the store and get into his vehicle. Brown stated that that male subject began to back up and struck her vehicle. She said the driver got out of his vehicle, looked at the damage and said “It’s not that bad”, and drove off. Brown described the other vehicle as a black buick 4 door passenger car that did not have a front Illinois registration plate. The driver of that vehicle was described as a white male in his mid to late 50s. No other identification could be determined of the driver of the vehicle.

 

27 year old Jefferey S. Westenhaver of Tovey stated he was waiting to exit the parking lot in the 900 block of W. Spresser. Westenhaver said a truck stopped and let him exit the parking lot, and that when he exited the parking lot, 61 year old Laurel M. Jacobs of Pana was in the middle of the roadway in her vehicle going around the traffic. Jacobs stated that she was going around the traffic that was waiting at the stop light at Cheney and Spresser. Jacobs stated that she was not in the marked turn lane when she passed the cars. Officers spoke with a witness that stated he stopped to let Westenahver exit the parking lot when Jacobs came up the center lane passing cars. The witness said Jacobs was not in the marked turn lane when Jacobs and Westenhaver struck each other. Jacobs was cited for improper lane usage.
