Shelbyville To Honor Those Lost To Substance Abuse

The Shelby County Recovery-Oriented Systems of Care Council is inviting the community to come together next week for a special candlelight vigil honoring loved ones who have died as a result of substance use disorder.

The Candlelight Vigil will take place Wednesday, August 26th, from 6 to 8 PM at Pavilion 3 in Forest Park, located at East North 9th Street, in Shelbyville. Pavilion 3 is located by the pool.

Organizers say the evening will be a time to light candles, share memories, and honor the lives of those lost to substance use disorder.

Community members are welcome to bring photos and the names of loved ones they wish to remember. The event is intended to provide an opportunity for reflection, remembrance, and support for families and others affected by loss.

The Shelby County Recovery-Oriented Systems of Care Council encourages anyone in the community who has been impacted by substance use disorder to attend and help light the night with memories and love.
