According to the Christian County Sheriff's Office, Illinois Route 29 between the prison and Owaneco will be closed for an extended period of time following a car accident in the area. The amount of time the road will stay closed has not been determined.

Hart Media Group spoke with Christian County Chief Deputy Jim Baker, and according to Chief Deputy Baker, the Illinois State Police (ISP) is conducting further investigation into the incident, and will need to keep the stretch of IL 29 between the prison and Owaneco closed for until further notice to safely and thoroughly conduct the investigation.

Chief Deputy Baker mentioned that the Christian County Sherrff's Office will release more information as it becomes available and will alert the community via the Sheriff's App once the road has reopened. 

As the investigation is still ongoing to uncover more details behind the car accident, no further information is currrently available.
