The City of Assumption is reminding residents that the petition process for candidates seeking elected office in the city will begin later this month.

August 25th, 2026, will be the first day that candidates may begin circulating petitions for the April 6th, 2027 Consolidated Election.

There is one Alderperson position available in each of Assumption’s three wards. Each position carries a four-year term.

Candidates can pick up petition packets beginning Tuesday, August 25th, at Assumption City Hall, located at 229 North Chestnut Street. City Hall will have packets available from 8 AM until 4:30 PM.

Completed petitions must be filed at City Hall between November 16th and November 23rd. Filing hours during that period will be 8 AM to 5 PM.

The city is encouraging anyone interested in running for one of the available Alderperson positions to make note of those important dates and filing deadlines.
