Taylorville City Council swore in a new firefighter to the Taylorville Fire Department on Monday.

At the first of 2 monthly city council meetings, Taylorville Mayor Bruce Barry swore in Dillon Glasscock to the department. Glasscock took his oath of office and is now a proud member of the Taylorville Fire Department.

Mayor Barry also recognized the Christian County Fair pageant queens, Miss Christian County Olivia Kent, Junior Miss Christian County Thea Shanks, and Little Miss Christian County Blakley Fisher. Mayor Barry spoke on the achievements made by each pageant queen, what they enjoy doing with their time, and what plans they may have for their futures.

Mayor Barry also dedicated August 4th as Olivia Kent Day, August 5th as Thea Shanks Day, and August 6th as Blakely Fisher Day in honor of the three new crown holders.
