The Taylorville Police Department is inviting residents to spend an evening getting to know local officers during a community event next month. The event is free and open to the public.

"Cops, Coffee, & Cold Scoops" will be held on Friday, August 7th, from 5 to 7 PM at LP Coffee & Creamery. The event is designed to bring officers and community members together in a relaxed setting while offering families an opportunity to interact with local law enforcement.

During the event, attendees can receive a free coffee or a free scoop of ice cream, courtesy of the Taylorville Police Department. Organizers say the evening will also feature activities for children of all ages, making it a family-friendly event for the community.

One of the highlights of the evening will be a police K-9 demonstration, scheduled to begin at 6 PM, giving visitors the chance to see one of the department's K-9 teams in action and learn more about the role police dogs play in law enforcement.

The Taylorville Police Department encourages residents to stop by, meet local officers, enjoy a complimentary treat, and take part in an evening focused on strengthening relationships between law enforcement and the community.
