Taylorville Memorial Hospital is celebrating more five-star ratings from the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services for their work. The health care provider earned the top rating in the areas of patient recommendation and nurse-patient communication. This accolade goes with their previously earned five-star rating for hospital cleanliness, along with the four-star rating overall. Regarding the communication recognition, President and CEO Aaron Puchbauer emphasizes the importance of that aspect in patients’ care and recovery.
Puchbauer says TMH has refined its staff protocols by – among other measures – introducing bedside shift reports. These reports are designed to keep nurses in later shifts informed of patients’ conditions so the patient does not have to do so.
The other notable factor is “multidisciplinary rounding.” It involves keeping doctors and nurses informed on the entirety of a patient’s condition, not simply the issue the patient originally presented with.
As for the accolade on recommendation, TMH’s success is measured through patient survey responses on whether they would recommend the provider to others.
