Pharmaceutical Company, Haleon, Recalls Gas-X Extra Strength Softgels

A nationwide recall has been announced for certain lots of Gas-X Extra Strength Softgels after a manufacturing issue raised concerns about possible contamination.

Consumer healthcare company Haleon says it is voluntarily recalling four lots of Gas-X Extra Strength Softgels in both 120-count and 72-count packages. The recall affects products distributed to consumers beginning April 13th of this year.

The recall impacts three lot numbers of the 120-count package: TL8K, YH9X, and YH9Y. It also affects lot number X78N in the 72-count package. All affected products carry an expiration date of November 30th, 2028.

According to the company, the affected softgels may have been contaminated with a diluted propylene glycol-based coolant due to a machine leak that occurred during the packaging process.

Health officials say anyone who ingests contaminated softgels could potentially experience symptoms including nausea, vomiting, abdominal pain, and diarrhea. At this time, Haleon reports that it has not received any reports of illnesses or adverse events linked to the recalled products. The recalled products are sold in packaging featuring a green band and contain green-colored capsules.

Consumers who purchased Gas-X Extra Strength Softgels on or after April 13th are being urged to check the lot number on their package. If it matches one of the recalled lot numbers (TL8K, YH9X, YH9Y, and X78N in the 72-count package), customers should stop using the product immediately.

Haleon says consumers can contact its Consumer Relations by calling 1-800-245-1040 team to arrange a return and receive reimbursement for the recalled product. Anyone who has experienced symptoms they believe to be related to use of the recalled softgels, should contact their healthcare provider.

The company is notifying distributors and customers through letters, email messages, and phone calls while coordinating the return of affected products, and the recall is being conducted with the knowledge of the U.S. Food and Drug Administration.
