Semi Truck Crash Closes Illinois Route 29 In Taylorville

At approximately 10:30 AM, Hart Media Group was alerted to a vehicle crash on Park Street (IL-29) beneath the railroad overpass.

A semi-truck hauling a loaded conex trailer was traveling southbound on IL-29. As the driver attempted to pass under the train bridge spanning the roadway, the semi struck the bridge, causing the conex container to fall off the trailer and into the roadway.

A second semi was then reported to have struck the fallen trailer, causing additional damage and creating a full road blockage in both directions.

At least one person was transported to the hospital by Dunn’s Ambulance. No other injuries have been reported at this time.

The Christian County Sheriff’s Office officially closed IL-29 in both directions at approximately 11:40 AM to remove the semi trailer and debris from the roadway so traffic could safely resume.

At 12:46 PM, the Christian County Sheriff’s Office announced on its Facebook page that IL-29 had reopened and was safe for travel.
