Repair work on the schools in Nokomis continues its progress after March’s severe weather hit the town. The school district is on pace to complete the work along with the previously planned elementary school renovations before the start of the next school year. Dr. Scott Doerr, superintendent of Nokomis schools, credits the contractors for their work to quickly repair the facilities with minimal disruption to the schools’ operations.
The elementary school renovations will take place during the summer. Dr. Doerr says both sets of work will be able to run in parallel in that time.
The next academic year’s first day of school is scheduled for Monday, August 24. The summer renovations necessitated a one-week delay to the start of instruction. This will result in the school year’s end being equally pushed back, as well. The high school’s athletic program will also see new head coaches for football and boys basketball.
