Illinois State Police responded to a fatal vehicle crash on I72 Friday evening around 11:49 PM. A 44 year old female from Decatur named Terieica L. Smith was traveling east on I72 near mile marker 105 in Sangamon County, traveling in a gray 2017 Toyota Camry when the vehicle drove off the right side of the roadway and struck a tree. Smith was transported to an area hospital where she succumbed to her injuries. ISP is still investigating this crash.
