The Impact Of COVID On Firefighters

For David Petty, a firefighter of over 30 years in Beecher City, COVID has made firefighting slightly more complex, as extra procedures have been added to make sure things are sanitized and cleaned. A lot of training had to be cut down due to social distancing.

Training was changed to make scheduling easier as well which posed difficulties in getting everyone on the same page, but the Beecher City Fire Department overcame the adversity.

The fire department averages 100 calls a year, with last year receiving 106. For the fire department, Petty has seen it change a lot in the last few decades and how it affected him as a trustee for the city.

David Petty appeared as a guest on the Newstalk WTIM Morning Show live during the Hometown Tour.
