Representative Brad Halbrook Concerned About Police Reform Bill

Police reform has everyone talking and Representative Brad Halbrook of the 102nd District spoke about some of the discussion that was taking place in the General Assembly. Halbrook who is starting his fifth term with the Illinois House was sworn in for the General Assembly and talked a little about the lame-duck session where he referred to the new police reform bill that was brought by the Black Caucus. Representative Halbrook says that the police reform bill was one of the main pillars that the Black Caucus brought forward for change.

Representative Halbrook says that the final product was several different bills merged into one.

There are 4 effective dates in the bill and Representative Halbrook says that it hurts police and taxpayers to get these new programs taken care of as they are all unfunded by the State.

Representative Halbrook is concerned about retention when everything gets implemented.  He says there are some good parts of the bill, but the negatives far outweigh the positives.

Representative Brad Halbrook appeared as a guest on the Newstalk WTIM morning show live from our studios in downtown Shelbyville.
