Abraham Lincoln Museum Reopening Next Week

The Abraham Lincoln Presidential Museum is opening on Monday, January 25th. The museum will ask that visitors schedule their appointments in advance so the number of people in the building can be held to safe levels and visitors are asked to wear masks that cover the mouth and nose. Visitors should be prepared to answer health questions, and have their temperatures taken before they can enter.

The library portion of the museum is still closed for the time being. Measures that have been taken to maximize safety include requiring tickets to be purchased in advance, requiring face masks, installing signs to remind people to socially distance, and establishing a strict cleaning regimen.

The museum will be open from 9 AM until 5 PM seven days a week. The limit will be 175 guests in the museum at one time spread out over the thousands of feet. Tickets will not be sold at the door and you will have to buy them in advance online or by calling 558-8844. Large groups are still allowed to visit but must be booked two weeks prior and groups of 15 to 30 are allowed.

The restaurant will not be open but the gift shop will. Other closures include “Mrs. Lincoln’s Attic” which is a children’s play area and the library which will open at a later point. Wheelchairs and strollers will be provided for those who need them. They will be cleaned and disinfected between uses.

Events are limited to a max of 50 people but  the rental program is taking reservations and coordinating with customers to book events up to 2 years out. To buy tickets and to receive more information visit www.presidentlincoln.illinois.gov email alplm.reference@illinois.gov.
