Vaccination Drive-Thru Clinic Coming January 26th

There will be another vaccine drive-thru held by the Christian County Public Health Department and the Christian-Montgomery Emergency Management Agency or Chris-Mont EMA. The vaccine clinic will be available for those 65 and older only and must live in Christian County.  The clinic will be on Tuesday, January 26th from 9 AM until 3 PM.

The drive-thru clinic will be available on a first come, first serve basis with the intent to serve as many people as the EMA possibly can. There will be approximately 300 vaccinations available. Chris-Mont EMA says that they will be able to reach more people in  a drive-thru clinic rather than a regular building. The vaccines will once again be distributed at the Christian County Fairgrounds.

Do not enter the clinic through the main fariground gates off of Spresser, but enter off of South Spresser Street onto West Vandeveer Street before turning onto Jaynes Street to enter the fairgrounds. Overnight stays in your vehicle and leaving your vehicle unmanned are strongly discouraged.

When the Chris-Mont EMA runs out of doses for the day, the vaccination site will be closed until the next clinic. The hope is to have a clinic once a week. Continue to monitor Regional Radio News for more updates. Make sure when you arrive, you have a vaccination authorization form. You can find a form at any Casey’s or at the Ayerco station in Edinburg. You should be prepared for a fifteen-minute holding period while parked in your car after the vaccination for monitoring.

You can not receive the shot if you are currently under a COVID-19 quarantine, and if you have a history of serious allergic reactions to injections, you should discuss your situation with your healthcare provider. Pregnant women were excluded from the trials, and the CDC recommends that those who are pregnant consult with their doctor.

As always, the Chris-Mont EMA asks you to be flexible, allow plenty of time, and be patient as the vaccine rollouts are given to larger groups. While on the fairgrounds, make sure that you wear a mask at all times, even if you are in your vehicle.
