State Doubles Down On Bringing In More Testing; Governor Asking People To Do Right Thing

The State of Illinois continues to work on ways to improve testing. According to Dr. Ngozi Ezike, Director of Public Health, who spoke at today’s daily press conference from Governor JB Pritzker on the coronavirus outbreak, testing can be the difference between staying closed and opening up again.

The state tested 13,000 people over the last 24 hours, and have maintained the 10,000 tests a day threshold since they broke that barrier last week.

Governor Pritzker also stressed that testing is more than just using a machine to run tests.

While the Governor said he won’t go in and break up any groups that get together, like a Church gathering, he is hoping people will go ahead and do the right thing.

The Illinois Department of Public Health announced 2,563 new cases of COVID-19 including 141 new deaths which brings the total amount to 52,918 cases including 2,355 deaths in 97 of the 102 counties in Illinois. IDPH has tested 269,867 people.
