Central Illinois Sees Largest Increase In COVID-19 Cases; Montgomery County Reporting 5 New Cases

Central Illinois saw its largest increase in COVID-19 cases over the last 24 hours with over 45 new cases in the area. Macon County reported 38 new cases bringing their total to 96 positive tests. Montgomery County also saw 5 new positive tests bringing their total to 22 positive tests. The Chris-Mont Emergency Management Agency Director, Greg Nimmo, issued a press release announcing that a team member who works at the Walgreens in Pana is being evaluated for COVID-19. The Walgreens is taking precautionary measures and continuing to follow CDC Guidelines.

 

According to a corporate statement from Walgreens, “Our clinical and safety teams work closely with our field and store leadership to respond accordingly, which may include identifying and contacting individuals who may be at risk in order to self-quarantine or self-monitor their health, as well as cleaning and disinfecting the location or impacted areas of the store. Cleanings may require temporarily closing a store, at which time customers may visit a nearby store location for their prescription needs.”

 

In Montgomery County, a staff member at Montgomery Nursing and Rehab Center has tested positive for COVID-19. The facility has closely followed protocol for Long Term Care Facilities to ensure the safety of its residents and staff.  No residents or additional staff has any symptoms of COVID-19. The facility and staff are doing what they have to do to limit the risk of the virus spreading.
