Governor Still Quiet On Possible Extension Of Stay At Home Order; Hints At Hitting Peak In Middle Of May

Student loan payments in Illinois will be deferred until at least the end of September. While Federal Loans had been taken care of with the CARES Act from the Federal Government, non-Federal loans were still being enacted hurting thousands of Illinoisans.  Governor Pritzker announced that there are new loan relief options.

Dr. Ngozi Ezike, Director of the Department of Public Health in Illinois, says that for people reporting on their health and answering their surveys, people are indeed recovering.

Governor Pritzker believes that the peak will not hit now until the middle of May and while the stay at home order will change, the Governor doesn’t want to completely remove it.

The IDPH announced that there are 1,551 new cases in the last 24 hours along with 119 additional deaths. Currently, IDPH is reporting 33,059 total cases including 1,468 deaths in 96 out of the 102 counties of Illinois.
