Christian County Board Meets Remotely, Suspends Summer Calendar; Extends Emergency Declaration;

The Christian County Board met on Tuesday afternoon via a phone conference. During that meeting, Greg Nimmo Christian Montgomery County Emergency Management Director spoke to the group encouraging everyone to wear masks and to do their part to keep social distancing.

Ten liquor license holders were approved for renewal. Downtown Taylorville presented their list of events from April through October, which included the Farmers Market events downtown. There was concern about the events being held due to the coronavirus. Chairwoman Becky Edwards expressed her concern over holding these events but felt that the calendar still needed to be put together, even if events were suspended.

The motion did pass. Due to a new law that adopted animals must be microchipped, Animal Control Director Vince Harris, said that it's necessary to raise prices for adoption fees to help cover costs.

A motion was also approved to install chicken wire in the ceiling on the third floor to catch further falling ceiling not to exceed $1300. Board member Phil Schneider said they will be keeping a close eye on it.

The motion to extend the emergency declaration for Christian County was also approved for another 30 days. The next Christian County Board meeting will take place on Tuesday, May 19th.
