Concern Over the Budget Takes Center Stage At Coronavirus Press Conference

Governor JB Pritzker is concerned about the budget and is putting together a plan for the economy to get through the COVID-19 crisis.  All 50 states have lost revenue and the Governor is doing his part to help Illinois avoid taking on more debt and find themselves more in the hole. The Governor has said that he has already worked on cutting expenditures.

Utilizing all areas of the government including the treasurer and Comptroller, Governor Pritzker is pleased with what they’ve done to help the economy.

The Illinois Department of Public Health announced 1,346 new cases of coronavirus disease including 80 additional deaths. This brings the total to 24,593 cases including 948 deaths in 89 counties. Dr. Ngozi Ezike, Director of the IDPH, says that Illinois wouldn’t be where it was today if it weren’t for essential workers.
