Despite COVID-19 Mental Health Options Still Readily Available

Mental health wellness is something that’s always important, but it is especially important during the COVID-19 pandemic. If you need to speak to a mental health professional, there are resources and services that are available to you including the Call4Calm support line.

Illinois State Senator Andy Manar said, “This pandemic has cast a great deal of stress into our lives over a very short period of time. If you are dealing with heightened levels of anxiety or depression as a result, please know that you are not alone. We are all in this together, and there are people and resources available to help you work through this.”

The Call4Calm support line is operated by the Illinois Department of Human Services’ Mental Health Division. If you need to speak to a mental health professional you can text “TALK” to 552020. A counselor will call you within 24 hours of your text. You can also text key words such as “unemployment,” “food,” or “shelter” to receive important information on that specific topic.
