Illinois Sees Lowest Death Total From COVID-19 In 6 Days; Shelby County Has 4th Case

The coronavirus does not take days off for holidays, so Governor JB Pritzker gave a press conference on Sunday, albeit a little shorter than his usual press conferences. The governor expressed his thanks to the many people who are following the rules of social distancing.

With Dr. Ngozi Ezike off, Governor Pritzker gave today’s numbers of COVID-19 cases. Illinois has 1,672 new cases of coronavirus including 43 additional deaths. This brings the total number to 20,852 cases, many of which have already recovered and 720 deaths in 86 of the 102 counties in Illinois. Governor Pritzker says that he sees a blessing in the numbers.

On the homefront, according to the Christian-Montgomery Emergency Management Agency, there are 24 positive cases in Christian County and 3 deaths. Montgomery County has 9 cases with 1 death. Shelby County announced their fourth case, a 31-year-old female who is self-isolating at her home in Shelby County.

The Governor says that you don’t know if we’ve reached the peak for the spread until the numbers start going down.
