Governor recognizes April As Child Abuse Awareness Month; Announces 1400 New COVID Cases

Governor JB Pritzker gave his daily press conference on COVID-19 and there are 1,453 new cases of coronavirus disease (COVID-19) including 33 deaths. The Governor urges everyone to remember that April is National Child Abuse Awareness month and with more people staying at home due to the virus there is a heightened risk for child abuse.

New counties reporting COVID-19 cases include Jasper, Lee, Mason, and Pike.  There are now a total of 10,357 cases, including 243 deaths in 68 counties. Dr. Ngozi Ezike, Director of Public Health is worried about too many people not staying at home.

Governor Pritzker says he’s not sure when the state will reach it’s apex as far as peak point but it will probably be the end of April.
