Over 1,000 New COVID-19 Cases In Illinois; Governor Pritzker Working On Getting More Testing

With over 1,000 new cases yesterday in Illinois, Governor JB Pritzker has announced that the State of Illinois wants to start raising the tests they give every day from about 4,000 to about 10,000 per day.  The governor says that while there have been improvements in testing, it needs to be better. Governor Pritzker says he plans on taking matters into his own hands.

The governor plans on having the testing sites up and running by Tuesday. Director of the Department of Public Health, Dr. Ngozi Ezike, announced that there were 1,105 new cases with 18 new deaths.  This brings the total number of cases to 4,596 with 65 deaths in 47 counties. Dr. Ezike says that one of the ways that we can tell whether or not the virus is slowing and we’ve flattened the curve by using hospital data.

The Governor also had a message for landlords about any potential evictions for people with the Coronavirus, or nurses that are fighting it, "don’t do it."
