Governor Calls For Help For Homeless; SNAP Increases

Illinois Governor JB Pritzker held his daily press conference and urged anyone with a medical background to come help in the fight against COVID-19. Governor Pritzker announced increases to SNAP benefits and funding for helping homeless people, as well as a stipend to child care providers who have provided child care to essential workers. The governor announced that he has received more state procured masks to help with PPE to Champaign, Peoria and other areas that have needed PPE. 

 

The Governor spoke about some of the help for childcare for essential workers.

 

Illinois Department of Human Services Secretary Grace Hou says that SNAP benefits will be increasing.
