This decision comes after states like California and New York have done similar actions. The order will take place on Saturday evening at 5 PM until April 7th. Governor Pritzker says that he has made this decision to do what we can to stop the loss of life in Illinois from the coronavirus.

Governor Pritzker explained that there is still a lot of things that you can do under the executive order like leaving the house to get food or go to a pharmacy.

The Illinois Governor reemphasized that roads will be staying open. You can still pick up food from restaurants and the State continues to try to stay as normal as possible. There will be some things that will be changing though.

Governor Pritzker has asked for all evictions to stop and is working on directing additional resources to help those with homelessness. Governor Pritzker also announced that school has postponed their tentative reopen date to April 8th but whether that happens remains to be seen.
