Christian-Montgomery EMA Puts Out Guidance On Coronavirus

The Christian-Montgomery County Emergency Management Agency is correlating with the Department of Public Health and has released information they would like the public to know about the coronavirus and its impact on Central Illinois. If you are sick and have respiratory symptoms, such as a fever, cough, and shortness of breath, stay home unless you need medical attention. Remain in your home until you feel better and have no symptoms.

The only reason you should be tested for the coronavirus is if you have traveled to a foreign country that has issued a level 2 or level 3 designation in the last 14 days. These countries include China, Iran, South Korea, and most of Europe. You should also be tested if you have shown any symptoms of COVID-19 in the last 14 days and you should be tested if you have any symptoms of a lower respiratory infection.  If you need to be tested, please contact your healthcare provider by phone for a medical assessment. Do not show up unannounced.

The Illinois Department of Health has implemented heightened surveillance to identify and test patients most likely to have COVID-19. Since there are only a limited amount of tests available, the CDC is limiting who is being allowed to test for the virus.

The State of Illinois is also encouraging businesses across the state, to take advantage of teleworking capabilities for the time being. If you can work from home, you should be doing it in an effort to keep your other employees safe from the virus. For more information visit the Department of Health’s website.
