Christian County Closes Public Buildings Due To Coronavirus

The Christian County Elected Officials and Offices have met to discuss Public Service Efforts regarding COVID-19. While elections will proceed as normal, there will be other closings. The Christian County Courthouse, Regional Office of Education, Highway Department, Treasurer, County Clerk/Recorder, Tax Assessor, County Coroner, Public Defender, County Chairperson, Circuit Clerk, State’s Attorney, Probation, Solid Waste, Zoning/Animal Control all located in Taylorville will be closed to the public effective March 17th at 4 PM through March 30th, 2020. At that time, operations will be reevaluated.

 

Effective March 17 through March 30th, Offices will continue to operate albeit with a reduced staff. Some of these offices are needed for essential governmental functions. If you have an issue that is an emergency involving a closed office, contact one of the essential numbers and accommodations will be made if necessary. If you need court access regarding issues such as petitions for emergency and plenary orders of protection and stalking no-contact orders, contact the Circuit Clerk’s office at 824-4966. Plenary hearings on petitions for orders of protection and stalking no contact orders will be held in Courtroom A on the third floor of the courthouse on Friday, March 20th at 10 AM and Friday, March 27th, at 10 AM.  Only the parties and any witnesses will be allowed entry.
