The Illinois State Police are investigating a three-vehicle fatal crash in Montgomery County. ISP District 18 Troopers responded to investigate a three-vehicle fatal crash on Interstate 55 northbound at milepost 59 in Montgomery County, 7 miles north of Litchfield. 

At approximately 3:55 PM Monday afternoon, a 2005 Porsche Carrera driven by 62-year-old Jorian Clarke of St. Louis, Missouri had stopped in the left lane of the interstate due to a wheel that was in the lane of travel from a prior incident. A 2018 Chevy Equinox driven by 74-year-old Richard S. Jaeger of Fond Du Lac, Wisconsin struck the Porsche from behind. The Equinox then struck the left side of the Kenworth Truck Tractor Semitrailer that was parked on the right shoulder.  The driver of the Semitrailer, 49-year-old Richard Dowlarr of Springfield was injured in the crash.

The passenger in the 2018 Chevy Equinox, 82-year-old Robin L. Francis of Fond Du Lac, Wisconsin was killed in the collision with the Semitrailer. The ISP Traffic Crash Reconstruction Unit is continuing the investigation. No further information is available at this time.
