Community In Mourning After Death of Coaches Son

The community of Pana is in mourning today after it was announced over the weekend that the Pana Football Coach, Trevor Higgins son, Evan, passed away tragically after a swimming accident. Higgins announced on his Facebook page that the boy had died and the community has sent an outpouring of love and hope and support for the coach.  Higgins posted on his Facebook, “Evan was officially declared deceased at 2:55 PM. Our family is heartbroken and will never be the same. All we can do now is trust that God had a reason to take him from us! We know that he is up in heaven now playing with his grandma Stacey (my mom) who passed away from cancer in 2010. The only thing getting us through this is the love and support of our family members and the communities that we grew up in or work for! Evan was the best kid you could ask for. He was sweet, kind, full of energy and enthusiasm and never knew a stranger.”  A prayer vigil was held over the weekend and Higgins sent out a message thanking everyone for all of the support. Higgins has announced that his son’s organs will be donated as well.  Funeral arrangements for Evan Higgins are pending.
