Over 250 Attend Ag Group Ag Day Luncheon at Christian County Fair

Over 250 attended Thursday's Ag Day Luncheon sponsored by the Christian County Ag Group, at the Christian County Fairgrounds.  The event, in its 25th year, spotlights the importance of agriculture to the economy of Christian County.

 

The Ag Group secured some 20 local sponsors, in order to provide a free lunch for those attending.

 

The Ag Day Luncheon featured 2 guest speakers. 

 

 

Christian County native Nicole Moore (right) is the Marketing Representative and Grant Administrator in Marketing, Promotion and Grants for the Illinois Department of Agriculture.  Moore gave some examples of products that are part of the Illinois Products program, which identifies products grown or manufactured inside the state.

 

 

The 2nd guest speaker at the Christian County Ag Group Ag Day Luncheon, was the Dean of the College of Agriculture, Consumer and Environmental Sciences at the University of Illinois, Kim Kidwell (left), who told attendees one of the most important things that the U-of-I does is support the future of agriculture thru education.

 

 

Ag Group committee member and Miller Media Group president Randal J. Miller, emceed this year's Ag Day Luncheon.

 

 

The Christian County Ag Group Committee is made up of stakeholders in agriculture in Christian County.  They hold regular meetings thru-out the year, and the annual Ag Day Luncheon is their biggest event each year.
