The Taylorville Kiwanis Club announced this week, that it has been awarded a one-thousand dollar grant from the WalMart Foundation.
The grant request was written by Kiwanis member Martin Vota.
The one-thousand dollars will be used by the local Kiwanis Club, for continued improvements at Kiwanis Park, including a second covered pavilion.
Since 1995 when the Taylorville Kiwanis Club founded Kiwanis Park, over 20-thousand dollars has been raised locally and put into the park. It includes a large pavilion, fire pit, rest rooms, playground and boat dock.
The Taylorville Kiwanis Club is part of global organization of volunteers dedicated to improving the world one child and one community at a time. Weekly meetings are held Tuesdays at noon at the Taylorville Memorial Hospital auditorium. For information on the club, go to taylorvillekiwanis.com.
