Spending an extended amount of time outside in the heat will take its effect the Christian County Sheriffs Office wants to make sure you and your loved ones stay safe.

Christian County Sheriff Bruce Kettelkamp says with this heat check on the elderly and if they say they are doing fine check on them in person to make sure everything is alright.

Kettelkamp says make sure you check the back seat before getting out to run errands. Even if you think it will be a quick in and out stop it does not take long for the heat to be deadly for a young child or pet.
