After the tornado on December 1st many Central Illinois residents were without power, some for nearly 24 hours.

Marcelyn Love with Ameren Illinois says they have a protocol as to how they get the power back on. Their main goal is to get your power back as quickly as possible, but they cannot just go in and flip a switch.

Love says Ameren also wants to advise having a storm kit in case of the storm. It is better to have it and not need it as opposed to need it and not have it.
