Votes Being Counted in TCCU High School Scholarship Program

While an outside vendor counts the thousands of votes cast in TCCU’s 5th annual Scholarship Program, dozens of seniors at Taylorville, Litchfield and Hillsboro High Schools anxiously await the results.  The votes cast will determine which six students – two from each of the high schools—will receive $1000 awards toward their continuing education.
T-C-C-U president Will Perkins says that each year, the program has grown to include more students, and more participation by locally-owned businesses.  Perkins adds that the credit union presents checks to six local students.
Some 67 businesses participated as ballot locations.
For every $10 spent at a participating business, people can cast one vote for a student who has registered in the program, and whose photo and name are displayed on posters in the store window and at the cash register.
