Scott’s Law is more commonly known as the Slow Down, Move Over Law. It has been in affect for years now but still in 2019 we are setting new highs for trooper fatalities and we are not even a quarter of the way through the year.

Bourne says April 1st is State Trooper day and this year was tougher than any in recent memory as you have to go back over a half century to see a year that was as fatal as 2019.

Bourne wants residents to remember that this law does not just apply to State Troopers, it applies to anything with flashing lights on the side of the road.

Bourne says she is hopeful that this can move through Springfield quickly. With these beginning months being so difficult it has the topic on everyone’s mind.
