March is National Nutrition Month and is a time where residents really take a look at if they are eating right, something to look out for are fad diets.
Nutrition and Wellness Educator with the U of I Extension Office in Taylorville Lisa Peterson says these fad diets are not all they’re cracked up to be. Peterson says anything that eliminates a certain food group should be a giant red flag.
Peterson says the old school food pyramid is no longer in use, instead we have “my plate” which shows you what should be on your plate as well as portion levels.
Peterson appeared as a guest on the Newstalk WTIM Morning Show.
