The Joanna House is a location that provides clothing to needy families in Shelbyville and Shelby County, and was founded by the First Assemblies of God church in Shelbyville. Mindi Mars is coordinator of the Joanna House, and visited with host Mark Sanders on this past Friday's NEWSTALK WTIM Morning Show from our downtown Shelbyville studios, saying opening the facility has opened her eyes on the number of Shelby County residents living at the poverty level.
Mars added people are amazed that any items provided by the Joanna House to the needy, are free.
Mars said her church felt the need to establish the Joanna House due to the number of needy families there are in Shelby County.
