Taylorville City Council Honors Current and Former Taylorville Quarterbacks

On Monday night, the Taylorville City Council held their second meeting of the month. To begin the meeting, Taylorville Football quarterback Brandon Odam was honored as the youth of the month for his play on the field. Also, as a tribute to all of Taylorville’s quarterbacks, Mayor Bruce Barry invited multiple past quarterbacks to the meeting to be honored as well. After that, Kristen Bolinger was sworn in as a Police Officer.

 

After that, an Ordinance designating and approving the Taylorville Business Development District no. 1 and imposing retailers’ Occupation tax, a service occupation tax, and a hotel operators’ occupation tax in the Taylorville Business Development District no. 1 was approved by a motion of 7-2. The new district’s goal is to bring in more businesses to the city of Taylorville, and also more young residents. Mayor Bruce Barry commented on how he hopes this will develop growth in Taylorville.

 

 

After that motion was passed, committee reports began. The Personnel committee had one motion proposed which was passed by the council. The Water/Environmental Committee had 7 motions proposed which were all passed by the council. Lastly, the Lake and Airport Committe had 6 motions proposed and passed by the council. Following the reports, the meeting was adjourned.

 

The Taylorville City Council meets on the first and third Monday of every month.
