Last month the Better Business Bureau warned us about lottery scams to look out for. This month it seems fake checks are the trend that is being used and residents need to watch out for.
Mara Clingingsmith is with the BBB in St. Louis and recently they teamed up with the BBB offices in Dallas, Omaha, Chicago, and San Francisco to look at the fake check issue. Clingingsmith says according to the calculations of the BBB around 500,000 people fall victim to fake check scams.
Cinginsmith wants residents to know what to watch out for, she gives an example of a scam that she saw a woman fall victim to in St. Louis.
