The State Treasurer’s office is trying as hard as they can to get unclaimed money and property into the correct hands.

State Treasurer Mike Frerichs says they are launching a new program to make it easier to claim their money. Frerichs says there is still a lot of unclaimed property so now the Treasurer’s Office will be mailing checks to potential residents that fit the criteria.

Frerichs realizes that his office will not be able to mail out all the unclaimed property in Illinois. He urges residents to check out the website to see if any of this unclaimed property could be theirs. The total amount of unclaimed properties in Christian County alone is over 2 million dollars.
