September is Food Safety Awareness Month and the University of Illinois Extension Program wants to make sure that Central Illinois stays safe when grilling out.
Lisa Peterson is the Nutrition and Wellness Expert with the Extension Program. She wants to urge residents to cook their food to the correct temperature, and the only way to truly know is with a food thermometer.
The University of Illinois recently finished their study about what produces the tastiest pork. While 160 degrees is the recommended number if you only make it to 145 that is still safe to eat and will make the pork that much better.
Peterson appeared as a guest on the Newstalk WTIM Morning Show.
